Datacenter company adopts OriginMark for material traceability
Aligned Data Centers, a technology infrastructure company, has integrated OriginMark, an enhanced material traceability system, to accelerate supply chain decarbonization and circular asset management. Aligned and its customers will be able to identify the material recovery and recycling options for their data center equipment and devices. This involves tracking the complete lifecycle of the equipment and devices.
OriginMark was developed by MOLG, a circular manufacturing company. It was designed as an open standard for material traceability, enabling transparency and value recovery in the circular economy.
With OriginMark, embodied carbon data can be computed based on a total and origin of materials inside the individual components, whether that is an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a data center, or a customer with multiple campuses.
Aligned will also work with its vendors to use the OriginMark technology during the construction of new data centers and the expansion of existing infrastructure. The Aligned Insight platform will enable the company and its partners to identify the embodied carbon, and manage the circularity of their products, including generators, power distribution units (PDUs), and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems as well as other components that are incorporated into data center construction and operations.
According to MORG, OriginMark is capable of capturing the lowest level of details of the components inside assets and products. OriginMark also capture relationships between components and builds scalable assembly hierarchies.
