EdgeConneX plans to build a hyperscale campus in Indonesia

EdgeConnex's plans to build a hyperscale data center campus in Bekasi Cikarang, part of metropolitan Jakarta, will help grow Indonesia's digital economy. The company recently acquired GTN Data Center. Additionally, EdgeConneX has purchased a plot of land adjacent to GTN, allowing for a future hyperscale data center campus capable of supporting more than 90 MW of capacity.

Since 2016, the Indonesian firm has operated a Tier 3 certified data center. Mitsui of Japan established GTN through a joint venture with Indonesian distributor and integrator, PT Multipolar Technology, which is part of Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group.

The acquisition of GTN marks EdgeConneX's ninth market in Asia that is either established or under development. This is as the company continues to build out its data center platform in the region. Having announced plans to build a pan-Indian data center infrastructure through a joint venture, AdaniConneX, as well as announcing a strategic investment in Chayora, a leading data center operator in China, the acquisition of the GTN Data Center in Indonesia represents the 3rd major country in Asia that EdgeConneX has entered as part of its global expansion strategy. GTN’s carrier neutral facility supports over 50 customers in a nearly 7MW facility located in a secure area with reliable, scalable, and diverse power sources. The facility claims a 100% SLA record.

Structure Research estimates Jakarta's data center market will reach almost $650 million by 2026, with nearly two-thirds of its growth coming from hyperscaler demand. High-quality and reliable hyperscale digital infrastructure is essential to support Indonesia's digital transformation and serve as a regional gateway.
