OSAKA - MC Digital Realty, a 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty, has opened its fourth building, called KIX13, on its 250,000-square-foot Osaka data center campus. Built with seismic isolation systems for resilience against earthquakes, KIX13 brings 21MW of capacity

The addition of KIX13 brings total IT capacity at the MC Digital Realty Osaka campus to over 70MW.

Cloud service providers are increasing their footprint in both the Tokyo and Osaka regions, according to the company, in a nod to Japan's national digital transformation initiative, and the advent of 5G-driven demand.

"We have been working to create a next-generation interconnection platform that goes beyond the traditional data center business," said Bampo Tezuka, Representative Director, CEO, MC Digital Realty in announcing the new facility's opening.
