Colt Opens New Hyperscale Data Center in Osaka

UK-based Colt Data Centre Services, which operates data centers in Japan, India, the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Germany, has opened a 45MW hyperscale facility in Keihanna Science City, near Osaka, Japan. Colt says the new facility is one of Japan's largest, covering 42,000 square meters of space.

The company says the new hyperscale center uses “cutting-edge cooling” (presumably immersion) to be “in line with the organization's wider ambition of achieving global net zero emissions by 2045.”

Th Osaka area is a growing business and technology center in Japan. Colt says its new facility in the region will provide carrier neutral connectivity services. It is the first fruit from an agreement with Fidelity and Mitsui to be the exclusive service provider in this region for them.

Ellen Hall, Fidelity’s Head of Direct Real Estate commented, “This is the first development under Fidelity’s joint venture with Mitsui and validates our belief that having local partners in Mitsui and Colt DCS, with long track records in the region, is key to success.”

On Mitsui's behalf, Takashi Nakai, General Manager of its Financial Business Division, said, “We have been working closely with Colt DCS. The demand for sustainable hyperscale data center services and solutions across Japan is unprecedented.”
