Scale Computing and Mako Networks - Partnered to Offer an Edge Management Solution

Scale Computing has announced that it has partnered with Mako Networks, a provider of software-defined edge networking (SD-Edge) solutions, to provide a powerful enterprise-grade storage system solution that leverages data center storage and cloud technologies to the edge of the network in remote and branch offices.

This next-generation storage solution allows business clients to reduce their dependence on expensive WAN bandwidth while simultaneously gaining access to their data 24/7, even if they have limited or no connectivity to the Internet. In addition, the partnership aims to provide customers with the peace of mind to deploy a complete remote management solution.

The two companies collaborate to integrate Scale's Edge Services Platform with Mako's Cloud for Enterprises. Mako provides software and services for enterprise IT departments that offer cloud-based service desks, change and configuration management tools, application delivery, and security solutions.

Craig Theriac, Vice President of Product Management at Scale Computing, says, "With most edge locations lacking on-site technical staff, Mako Networks and Scale Computing have developed systems for automating deployment and updates to both networking and applications, as well as a supporting software stack to process data at the edge of the network, closest to where that data is created and utilized."

"Autonomous operation, monitoring, and self-healing properties make on-site intervention a thing of the past," he added.

In addition, Mako will make its data center operations software available as an on-demand service through the Scale Computing system. That will let customers remotely manage applications running on Mako's hardware via a user interface delivered over the Web without investing in or configuring any additional hardware or infrastructure at their site.

As part of the collaboration, Mako will also provide API access to its technology to integrate it into Scale's enterprise customer portal. The new joint venture hopes to provide a single point of contact for managing all systems inside or outside corporate networks.

Combining their products will give each company PCI-certified security, flexibility in scalability, cost efficiency, and commonality of management. In addition, the partnership improves connectivity at the network edge by using Mako Networks' SD-WAN technology.

The combined solution is also PCI DSS-compliant and is connected to an easily manageable remote management system.

CEO of Mako Networks, Jason Kubasak, said. "We're excited to partner with Scale Computing. Their low-touch, remotely managed edge computing solution perfectly aligns with Mako's similar edge networking and security platform. The combination is truly ground-breaking."
